First outing for new Jordan 08 Feb 2005
The Toyota-powered Jordan EJ15 has made its track debut at Silverstone. Tiago Monteiro, at the wheel for the team for the very first time, completed an initial shakedown of the new car at the British Grand Prix circuit on Monday.
Monteiro, whose signing was announced last week along with that of 2005 Jordan team mate Narain Karthikeyan, carried out installation runs and systems checks in the first EJ15 chassis in preparation for the cars first full test later this week.
"Today was really cool and from my point of view it went great, said Monteiro following his Jordan debut. We started late because of fog in the morning so we didnt achieve everything we wanted to. But we did 35 laps in the afternoon and had no major issues at all. We carried out some of the tests we wanted to do and I feel comfortable in the car. So far so good. Im really happy and looking forward to continuing the work this week."
Trevor Carlin, Jordans sporting director, added: Once the weather cleared slightly, the afternoon went well and Tiago was able to complete almost 100km, making good progress with checking the various systems on the car. Were looking forward to getting our teeth into the full test programme in two days time.
Monteiro will complete Jordans shakedown programme on Tuesday and following routine post-shakedown checks at the factory, the teams first full test session of 2005 will take place at Silverstone from February 9 to 11 inclusive.
Karthikeyan will drive on Wednesday and on Thursday morning, before handing the car over to Monteiro for Thursday afternoon. On Friday the team will have two cars and both drivers in action.
