Red Bull launch in the Pink 04 Mar 2005
After Midlands glitzy welcome presentation in Moscow just a week ago, Red Bull the other new team owners on the Formula One grid, made their presence felt at the beginning of the Melbourne race weekend with a big-bang party in the citys docklands.
The highlight of the evening was the roll-out of the teams car with Pink, the loudmouthed, trendsetting singer, sitting at the steering wheel in an all-black foxy outfit, combined with girlish pigtails.
Jumping out of the car she performed some of her greatest hits and at the end of her set she screamed at the audience Lets get the party started - and that is exactly what happened.
Naturally the cream of Australian society was there rubbing shoulders with that of Formula One racing. Aside from Red Bulls three drivers (David Coulthard looked particularly happy to be there) old favourites such as Niki Lauda and Norbert Haug also took it on themselves to celebrate the new entry. Strangely enough though, the new team owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, was missing.
The party may have set new standards in the sport, but now the Red Bull team have to show that they are as good on the track as off it.
