Jerez day one - Ferrari run solo 09 Mar 2005
Ferraris Marc Gene had the Jerez circuit to himself on Tuesday as Formula One testing resumed in preparation for the Malaysian Grand Prix on March 20.
Despite the imminent arrival of the new F2005, Ferrari are continuing development of the interim F2004 M, which will again be used at Sepang, following Rubens Barrichellos second-place finish in Australia.
Gene completed 74 laps of the Spanish circuit as he worked on a technical programme centred on general set-up and Bridgestone tyre development. His best time was a 1m 19.629s.
Conditions at Jerez were cloudy but dry, with track temperatures peaking at 23 degrees Celsius. Testing continues on Wednesday when Toyota, McLaren and BAR will join the session as they bid to close the performance gap to Renault.
