Montagny back in action in Turkey 22 Aug 2006
Super Aguris third driver Franck Montagny returns to the cockpit for Friday practice in Istanbul this weekend. The Frenchman missed the last two rounds of the season as the team only had two of its new SA06 chassis available.
The SA06 made its debut at Julys German Grand Prix, but both there and in Hungary Super Aguri chose not to run a third car as it would have meant reverting to the old SA05.
However, the team has been working hard over the summer break to ensure a third chassis - along with a new aerodynamic package - is ready for Istanbul. As a result, Montagny will be able to resume Friday duties in car number 41, providing a valuable boost to the prospects of race drivers Takuma Sato and Sakon Yamamoto.
The SA06 has only recorded one finish to date - Satos 13th place at the Hungaroring. However, the car has shown some promising pace, with Sato out-qualifying Midlands Christijan Albers and Toro Rossos Scott Speed in Hungary.
