Schumacher set for weekend drive in Germany
Plus Dutch outing for Doornbos and Vettel
Michael Schumacher will be the star attraction at the Nurburgring this weekend, when he takes time out between Monza testing and the Italian Grand Prix to demonstrate his Formula One machine as part of the Ferrari Racing Days 2006 event.
Schumacher will run a series of laps on Sunday afternoon in both his F2005 and Ferraris latest road car, the 599 GTB Fiorano. In front of his expectant fans, the German maestro will then end his stint with a first outing in his personal FXX GT machine.
Set in the heart of Germanys Rhine region, the Nurburgring is one of Schumachers favourite circuits, the former champion having won six Grands Prix at the track, four of them behind the wheel of a Ferrari. But his successful record is just one of the reasons he is looking forward to the event.
These are the dates that I love: lots of cars and action and a huge crowd, said Schumacher enthusiastically. I am sure it will be an enjoyable day and I hope we will have fun.
Fans attending the event will also get to see a wide range of historic Formula One machinery prepared by Ferraris Maranello customer department, as well as countless Ferrari road cars.
Michael Schumacher will not be the only Formula One driver in action this weekend. Robert Doornbos is scheduled to carry out a demonstration run in his Red Bull machine at the Dutch round of the DTM series at Zandvoort. Also on the bill will be BMW Saubers new third driver, Sebastian Vettel, competing in the Formula 3 Euroseries.
