Abu Dhabi line-up taking shape
|
Organisers of Abu Dhabis F1 Festival have announced that Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen will play a part in this weekends extravaganza. With a further nine teams already confirmed, the February 3 event is set to be the largest get-together of current Formula One drivers and cars ever assembled outside a Grand Prix meeting.
"We are absolutely delighted that Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro will be bringing both of their drivers and their cars to race through the streets of Abu Dhabi," commented Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nayhan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority. "Ferrari enjoys a unique relationship with its fans around the world and the UAE (United Arab Emirates) is no exception. This will be a rare opportunity for fans to see their heroes up close."
The festivals main attraction will be a demonstration run by some of the worlds best drivers in their Formula One machinery. A four-kilometre temporary street circuit, designed to give as many spectators as possible the best views, will be set up along Abu Dhabis waterfront.
Roads in the area will be closed to traffic from 0900 hours, but special parking areas will be in place in the following locations: The Marina Mall car park; The Hilton Hotel area; and between The Intercontinental Hotel and Al Bateen Marina.
The full team and driver line-up so far is as follows:
