Firsts for Raikkonen and Toyota in Spain
The opening day of testing in Valencia on Tuesday saw debuts aplenty, with Kimi Raikkonen getting his first taste of Ferraris new car, the F2007, and Toyota giving its 2007 challenger, the TF107, its first public track outing at the Spanish circuit.
Raikkonen made his debut appearance for Ferrari in Italy last week, but only tested the teams old car, the 248 F1. On Tuesday, however, the Finn got to grips with the machine in which he will contest the 2007 championship. He was joined by Ferrari tester Luca Badoer.
Toyota were also out on track, showcasing their new car, which was launched at their German base earlier this month. Despite the damp conditions, race driver Jarno Trulli and tester Franck Montagny went out early in the session, as they began carrying out the Japanese teams intensive pre-season programme.
Full test report to follow after Tuesdays session.
