The drivers attending this week’s Formula One test in Bahrain will face an altogether different challenge on Thursday, after being invited to try out one of the world’s most advanced flight simulators. The racing stars will swap tarmac for the skies at the special event held by the organisers of April’s Bahrain Grand Prix in conjunction with race sponsors Gulf Air.

The recently-launched flight simulator cost US$10 million and allows participants to ‘take the controls’ of either an Airbus or Boeing aeroplane. It is currently being used by Gulf Air to train pilots in the region.

The exclusive event will take place after the first day’s running in Bahrain on Thursday February 22. A further three-day test is scheduled to take place at the circuit from February 27 to March 1, followed by the Grand Prix on April 13-15.
