35,000 expected at Barcelona test 01 Feb 2008
Huge crowds are predicted for this weekends Formula One test session at Barcelonas Circuit de Catalunya. Officials are preparing for an influx of up to 35,000 fans during the three-day session, which commences Friday.
The bulk of the Formula One teams will be in action at the Spanish track as they continue preparations for the start of the 2008 season, now only six weeks away. Notable absentees will be Ferrari and Toyota, who have chosen to test instead at the International Circuit in Bahrain.
In anticipation of the large weekend crowds, the Circuit de Catalunya will be opening four gates, as opposed to the usual one for testing, and laying on additional food and beverage facilities. Admission to the test costs just six euro and is free to children under 11 years of age.
