Red Bull junior Alguersuari to sample F1 power 02 May 2008
Formula Three driver Jaime Alguersuari will get his first taste of a Formula One car next weekend as he carries out a straight-line test for Red Bull in Spain. Alguersuari will stand in for the team's test and reserve driver, Sebastien Buemi, who is to compete in the GP2 event ahead of the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park.
The 18 year-old Red Bull junior driver will be charged with carrying out some vital test runs at the Idiada proving ground facility, located near the Spanish city of Barcelona. He will follow in the footsteps of Canadas Robert Wickens and New Zealander Brendan Hartley, who also recently got their first chance to trial a Formula One car with Red Bull.
Spaniard Alguersuari is currently lying third in the British International Formula Three championship, driving for Carlin Motorsport. Last season he finished second in the Italian Formula Renault series and fifth in the European Renault series, and has recently been nominated for Spains prestigious Gillette Future Champion Award.
