Yoong to head up Lotus young driver programme 07 Dec 2009

Ex-Formula One star Alex Yoong is to play a lead role in the driver development programme for the new Lotus team. Malaysian Yoong will concentrate on the Asian side of things, with Litespeed Formula Three team principal Nino Judge responsible for European activities.

Yoong competed in 14 Grands Prix for Minardi back in 2001 and 2002, and has since raced in a variety of series including Le Mans, Champ Cars and GP2 Asia. Litespeed are the team who made the initial application to bring the Lotus name back to Formula One racing earlier this year.

Lotus has also appointed Mia Sharizman Ismail as head of operations in Asia.
