Vettel confirmed for 2009 Race of Champions in Beijing 11 Jun 2009
Red Bulls Sebastian Vettel will head to Beijings Birds Nest Stadium in November to compete in the Race of Champions (ROC), the end-of-season event that pitches the best racers from all motorsport disciplines against each other in identical machinery.
Vettel will again team up with seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher, as they look to defend Germanys Nations Cup title, which the duo have won for the past two years running at the UK's Wembley Stadium in London.
"I'm really looking forward to this year's Race of Champions in Beijing, said Vettel. The event is always a lot of fun and to compete in the Bird's Nest is going to be amazing. I think everyone still has the image of this fantastic stadium in their memories from the Olympic Games last year.
I look forward to trying to take our third title for Germany in the ROC Nations Cup together with Michael and personally I'm also aiming to win the individual Race of Champions after the disappointment last year when I was knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Last year the individual title was won by five-time world rally champion Sebastien Loeb, who narrowly beat Vettels Red Bull predecessor David Coulthard.
