Hublot unveils the F1™ King Power watch 18 Apr 2010

Luxury Swiss watch brand Hublot, recently announced as the Official Watchmaker of Formula 1™, has unveiled the F1™ King Power, their first Official Formula One watch. The watch is a unique design inspired by Formula One racing and a result of many weeks of close collaboration between Hublot and Formula One Management.

The F1™ King Power features a 48mm-diameter satin-finished Zirconium case, a special Zirconium and ceramic bezel which resembles a Formula One car brake assembly. The unique multi-layered dial is treated in black nickel with black SuperLuminova and the hands are micro-blasted and rhodium plated.

The distinctive chronograph pushers have taken a design lead from the array of buttons and functions on a modern day Formula One steering wheel. The unique strap consists of super-comfortable rubber on the inside and a special Nomex outer layer, the latter material being used extensively in the racing suits of Formula One drivers.

The F1™ King Power has been created to epitomise the cutting-edge technology, high performance, glamour and precision of the sport itself.

Hublot will produce a limited edition production run of the F1™ King Power pieces and launched the watch in the Shanghai World Financial Centre on Friday evening at a glamorous press conference, which featured a fashion show. Jean-Claude Biver, Hublot CEO, personally unveiled the watch at the event and said that he fully expected the F1™ King Power to be sold out extremely quickly.

Hublot also presented their first boutique in the Formula One Paddock Club and enjoyed a considerable branding presence in the pit lane at the circuit.
