Jani samples Indian circuit for Red Bull 20 Oct 2011
Swiss driver Neel Jani has become the first man to drive a Formula One car around the newly-completed Buddh International Circuit after he got behind the wheel of a Red Bull as part of the venues unveiling this week.
Jani took to the track in front of assembled media in New Delhi, which will host the 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of India next weekend.
For me, India is as good as coming home, Jani, who boasts an Indian father, told Red Bull. Getting to open the track with my Indian roots is a big honour for me and to being doing that with the 2011 world champions Red Bull Racing is an added honour. Im sure, come race weekend, that Seb (Vettel) and Mark (Webber) will push their RB7s on this extremely exciting and fast track.
It was the second demonstration the 27 year-old has completed for the Milton Keynes-based team in a week, after he recently became the first driver to take on the world's highest surfaced road, Indias 18,380ft-high Khardung La pass, in an F1 car.
The 2011 Formula 1 Airtel Grand Prix of India will take place on October 28-30. For more information on the race, including circuit map, destination guide and timetable, click here.
