FACTS AND STATS: Perez sets an unexpected record with Baku Sprint victory as Leclerc cashes in the points

Sean KellySergio Perez won an action-packed Sprint at Baku – which has become something of a purple place for the Mexican – while Charles Leclerc's P2 delivered a relatively big points haul. Here are the facts and stats from the 100km dash to the line on Saturday.
- Red Bull's Sergio Perez became the first driver to cross the line in P1 twice in Baku as the Mexican won the 2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and there has been no repeat winner of the Grand Prix here.

Perez has only had one third-place finish in six previous Sprints, at Imola in 2022.

With P2, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc took seven points on Saturday – more than he scored over the previous three rounds of 2023. That moves him up to P8 in the championship.

Max Verstappen leads the championship by 13 points over Sprint winner Perez.

George Russell took P4 for Mercedes , matching his best Grand Prix result this season (P4 at Jeddah).

Carlos Sainz rounded out the top five for Ferrari, finishing where he started and matching his highest Grand Prix finish in Baku (2018).

Fernando Alonso took P6 for his and Aston Martin's first ever Sprint points.

Lewis Hamilton finished seventh, 16.5 seconds behind the winner – and 8.5 seconds behind team mate Russell.
