Formula 1, the pinnacle of motor racing, are pleased to announce that Italian racing giants Scuderia Ferrari and Alfa Romeo Sauber will be taking part in the upcoming 2018 Formula 1 Milan Festival, lighting up the streets around the city’s iconic Darsena location.

The F1 Live car run will take place in the heart of the city on Wednesday August 29 ahead of the Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken D'Italia 2018, with the patronage of the City of Milan, and in association with ACI.

Fans lining the streets will be able to experience the roar of the engines, the smell of the rubber and the incredible energy that only Formula 1 cars can produce as the cars are put through their paces on a unique bespoke city circuit. The festival will be free for all to attend in the Darsena area, centre of Milan's ancient, and now restored, Navigli water canals.

Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, and Sauber drivers Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc will also meet and greet the crowds attending the event.

Preceeding the F1 Live car run a series of stunning and iconic classic cars will parade down the circuit. Then, just like a real Formula 1 race, the circuit will be checked and opened by a safety car, before the modern F1 cars are unleashed.

The Formula 1 Milan Festival will run at the same time as the Formula 1 Heineken Gran Premio D’Italia 2018, which takes place at the historic Autodromo di Monza. Opening up the exciting world of Formula 1 to its fans and bringing a new generation into the sport, the festival heralds the return of Formula 1 to Milan. It will bring the excitement and passion of an F1 Grand Prix event into the very heart of the city, creating an exciting destination experience for fans.

The creative and executive production of the Formula 1 Milan Festival is by Balich Worldwide Shows, specialists in large scale live events such as Olympic Ceremonies.

Sky Sport Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Virgin Radio Italy are the Media Partners of the first F1 Milan Festival.

Milan, the Italian capital of fashion and business, is the fourth global city to host an F1 Fan Festival after London in July 2017, then Shanghai in April, and Marseille in June earlier this year. It will be followed by the Miami Fan Festival, due to take place in October 2018.

The unique thrills of F1 will blend with the busiest and most buzzing area of Milan, merging exciting activations and events, music and iconic installations to attract and delight people throughout the day and late into the evening.

Sean Bratches, Managing Director, Commercial Operations at Formula 1 said: “Motor racing is in the DNA of this beautiful city, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate this than by bringing these Formula 1 teams and these great drivers to the streets of Milan. Fans are our lifeblood and exciting them is at the core of everything we do. That is why we have launched our Festival programme, to make F1 accessible to all and bring the thrill of the F1 experience to the heart of some of the world’s most amazing cities.”
