HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the action from the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as the sun sets on the 2022 season
Max Verstappen claimed victory number 15 of the 2022 season as he signed off his second championship-winning F1 campaign in style under the lights at the Yas Marina Circuit.
Having won in Abu Dhabi in 2020 and 2021, Verstappen made it three from three with a commanding lights-to-flag performance, the Red Bull man leading home Ferrari rival Charles Leclerc and team mate Sergio Perez.
Perez had run second in the early laps, with P2 in the drivers’ standings on the line, but while Verstappen and Leclerc opted for a one-stop strategy, the Mexican made two visits with the pit lane and was tasked with recovering a host of positions.

Perez lit up the timing screens on his fresh tyres but could not quite do enough to overhaul Leclerc, finishing just over a second behind the Monegasque, who therefore takes the 2022 runner-up spot behind champion Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton retired from the race late on with a suspected hydraulic issue, leaving Carlos Sainz in P4 and George Russell in P5, as Sebastian Vettel grabbed a point – and the Driver of the Day award – during his final F1 outing.
