The Silver Arrows duo made the early running at Silverstone, but Max Verstappen – the only driver in the top 10 to start on the hard compound tyres – quickly got on the tail of Hamilton in second and thereafter brilliantly managed his tyre strategy to leapfrog both Mercedes and hold the lead all the way to the flag.
