W SERIES: Reigning champion Chadwick dominates Austrian race from pole position

Jamie Chadwick comfortably won the second round of the 2021 W Series starting from pole position as the reigning champion bounced back from a tough opening round.

The Veloce Racing driver took fastest lap on her way to her third career W Series win, having secured pole position over rival Beitske Visser on Friday. The Briton's victory came after she was spun in Round 1 at the same circuit last weekend, with Alice Powell having swept the sessions ahead of the Styrian GP.

Irina Sidorkova (M Forbes Motorsport) took second, six seconds back from Chadwick, having started fifth – while Ecurie W racer Emma Kimilainen bounced back from a three-place grid penalty for a qualifying collision to complete the podium.

Briton Sarah Moore took fourth having passed Chadwick's team mate Bruna Tomaselli (P5). Ecurie W racer Abbie Eaton took sixth after overtaking Nerea Marti in the dying moments of the race, leaving the Academy driver seventh.

Visser, who started second, and Marta Garcia of Puma, suffered stalls as the lights went out and finished 11th and 12th, respectively.

That left last weekend's winner Powell finishing eighth for Racing X, while Belen Garcia (Scuderia W) and Fabienne Wohlwend (Bunker Racing) rounded out the top 10 after 21 laps/30 minutes.

Gosia Rdest (17th, Puma) and Marta Garcia (P12) collided midway through the race, while Miki Koyama complained of vibrations in her car and finished one lap down in last.

W Series' next round is in support of the British Grand Prix, with home racer Chadwick leading the championship ahead of compatriots Moore and Powell.
