Max Verstappen might have ruled the streets of Monaco to win in the Principality for the first time on Sunday, but he wasn’t nearly as happy with how things panned out in qualifying. Indeed, it wasn’t plain sailing for any of the race engineers across the weekend, with the airwaves filled with the cries of frustrated drivers.
Lewis Hamilton has driven round here once or twice and yet was left confused by the corner numbers, while old foe Sebastian Vettel had all sorts of issues with tearful eyes. Pierre Gasly was the AlphaTauri driver turning the airwaves blue this week – as opposed to his team mate – while Carlos Sainz was distraught when the red flags came out in qualifying.
Nikita Mazepin had to not so gently remind his race engineer exactly where he was racing, while Lando Norris was full of joy at the flag. And as for Vettel, he has replaced ‘Mama Mia’ with a new catchphrase…
