WATCH: Ride onboard with Carlos Sainz on his fastest lap in qualifying at Spa
Max Verstappen was in sublime form in qualifying on Saturday afternoon at Spa, setting the fastest time on his only lap in Q3 ahead of tomorrow’s Belgian Grand Prix. But it was Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz who claimed his second career pole position.
Verstappen – who will start further down the grid due to engine penalties – set a time of 1m 43.665s to lead Sainz by 0.632s and his team mate Sergio Perez by 0.797s. But it was Sainz who claimed the crucial pole position, putting him in the hot seat for victory in Sunday's race.
