WATCH: Ride onboard with Verstappen in Free Practice 2 as he sets the fastest lap in Bahrain
The sun had set by the time FP2 started at the Bahrain International Circuit. And after a quiet FP1, Max Verstappen of Red Bull set the fastest lap of the day on the soft compound tyres.
Second practice was crucial for the teams as it was the only session that would provide representative conditions ahead of qualifying and the race. With temperatures much cooler in Bahrain, all 20 teams headed straight out onto the track to gather as much information as possible.

Verstappen’s time was set halfway through the session, and despite the efforts from the competition, only Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc could come close to the lap set by the Dutchman.
