The 11 Formula 2 teams that are competing in the 2020 season have been retained for the next three years as F2 CEO Bruno Michel praised their “resilience and professionalism” in this difficult season.
Those teams are: ART Grand Prix, Campos Racing, Carlin, Charouz Racing System, DAMS, Hitech Grand Prix, HWA RACELAB, MP Motorsport, PREMA Racing, Trident and UNI Virtuosi.

To cut costs over those three years, there will not be a new F2 car. Teams will therefore optimise their current machinery to produce more scintillating competition in the coming seasons.
FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel said: “For the next three-year cycle, we have decided to renew our trust in the same 11 teams who have been racing with us in 2020. They have showed immense resilience and professionalism in these trying times. They all have done a wonderful job and they also have relied on us to ensure that everything was done to keep racing.
Hitech are the latest addition to the F2 grid, having joined for the 2020 season
“Together, we have been through some very challenging times, and together we will keep on working hard to maintain the level of our championship as high as it currently is thus attracting the best and most exciting young drivers.”
Mick Schumacher (PREMA) currently leads the drivers’ standings over UNI-Virtuosi's Callum Ilott – by just 15 points – going into the final round of the season at Sakhir.
Formula 3 champion Oscar Piastri will step into Prema Racing for 2021, as Schumacher is expected to step up to F1, and on Tuesday morning Haas announced that they have signed third-place F2 driver Nikita Mazepin on a multi-year deal.
