Formula 1 and Tottenham Hotspur have announced the official name of their new immersive karting experience: 'F1 DRIVE – London', as well as sharing an update on the project’s progress.

F1 DRIVE – London is part of a long-term partnership between F1 and the Premier League club, announced earlier this year, and will be the world’s first in-stadium electric karting facility and London’s longest indoor karting track.

F1 DRIVE – London will today unveil its own social media channels, and the new brand will feature trackside at this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Meanwhile, the construction of the indoor kart track continues at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London.

The fully-electric karting experience will support Formula 1’s drive for greater access and opportunity to the lower levels of motorsport, and through the partnership both F1 and Tottenham will explore ways to promote diversity and inclusion within the motorsport industry.

Thanks to the space afforded by the retractable pitch at the state-of-the art stadium, the kart track will be housed in a unique position underneath the stadium’s iconic single-tier South Stand. Here, budding drivers will get behind the wheel of the new, bespoke electric karts to try their hand at one of three track layouts.

Built by leading track engineers to deliver high speed, exciting racing, the track – which is accredited by the National Karting Association – will open its doors to the public later this year.

Testing of the cutting-edge electric karts that will run on the track is also now under way. With variable power settings to allow for a wide-variety of skill and experience, the karts will challenge adults, juniors and competitive racers alike when they get behind the wheel of this new F1 experience.

Brandon Snow, Managing Director, Commercial at Formula 1, said: “We are delighted to launch the F1 DRIVE – London brand and social channels today, taking another step towards opening this exciting new attraction. Having this physical F1 touchpoint to inspire and engage new and more diverse audiences year-round is a key stage in making our sport more accessible and inclusive. The development of the cutting-edge track and kart design has been fantastic to see and we can’t wait to welcome our first racers later this year.”

Todd Kline, Chief Commercial Officer, Tottenham Hotspur, said: “We are thrilled with how the karting facility is taking shape and with the interest received since we announced the project in February. We set ambitious goals for this stadium – to be the best place in the world to see live events and to be the catalyst for the regeneration of one of London’s most deprived areas, bringing millions of visitors to Tottenham every year. F1 DRIVE – London adds another exceptional experience to the stadium’s roster, delivering a major boost to the local economy and serving as a gateway into motorsports for a new and diverse audience.”
