F2: Hadjar fights back to take Melbourne Feature Race victory
Isack Hadjar rebounded from losing the Sprint Race victory following a post-race penalty by winning the Feature Race on Sunday around Albert Park.
The Campos Racing and Red Bull Junior Team driver fought through the pack from eighth on the grid to take his second F2 win.
Pole sitter Dennis Hauger had been battling with fellow front-row starter Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the early laps, but the complexion of the race changed after the MP Motorsport driver made his mandatory stop on Lap 9.
The Norwegian crashed out of the race at Turn 6, bringing out the virtual safety car. Hadjar was able to make his mandatory pitstop prior to the deployment of the VSC and filtered back onto circuit ahead of Antonelli to gain track position, leaving only those yet to make their pitstops ahead on the road.
With some crucial overtaking manoeuvres following the one and only safety car of the race, Hadjar began to pull a gap to those on the same strategy and had eventually finished several seconds clear by the end.
Hitech Pulse-Eight rookie Paul Aron was also able to pass Antonelli, diving late on the brakes into Turn 11 to seize the place in the latter stages.
F3: Beganovic takes maiden victory in Melbourne Feature Race
Championship leader Zane Maloney was the other driver to overtake the Italian, securing third for Rodin Motorsport and extending his advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship table.
