Max Verstappen scored his third pole position of 2025 in Miami, edging McLaren's Lando Norris as Drivers' Championship leader Oscar Piastri could only manage fourth. Here’s a round-up of all the best facts and stats from another thrilling Qualifying session…

  • Max Verstappen's pole position in Miami is his third of the season having claimed top spot in both Japan and Saudi Arabia, with his margin in the US of 0.065s the largest of the three.

  • It also marks back-to-back poles for the Dutchman in Miami, although ominously every polesitter in Miami has finished second in the Grand Prix.

  • Verstappen's pole marks the 106th for Red Bull which places the team just behind Lotus for fifth overall on the all-time record list.

  • Second for Norris is the Briton's first front row start since Japan having never previously started in the top four in Miami.

  • It means Norris and McLaren team mate Oscar Piastri are 3-3 from qualifying head-to-heads this season.

  • Norris' win in the Sprint is his second at the venue, with his victory 12 months ago his maiden F1 win - both of which were aided by a well-timed Safety Car.

  • Having taken Sprint pole yesterday, Kimi Antonelli claimed a career-best qualifying for a Grand Prix, which is also the first time he has outqualified Mercedes team mate George Russell.

  • The young Italian missed the front row by only 0.002s and it's the first time both Mercedes have started inside the top-six in Miami.

  • Fourth for Oscar Piastri is the first time the Australian has started outside the top three all season.

  • Having led for the majority of the Sprint, it has moved Piastri ahead of Valtteri Bottas (42) on the all-time leaderboard for laps led but still well behind Verstappen (200).

  • Fifth for George Russell is the same position he started the Sprint.

Norris had to settle for second on the grid in Miami

  • Carlos Sainz matches his start for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with P6, which is the third time this season a Williams has started in the top-six.

  • With Albon P7, it's the first time both Williams start inside the top-seven while their head-to-head record stands at 3-3.

  • Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start from his lowest grid position of the season in eighth and it is also the first time a car from the Scuderia has not started inside the top-seven in 2025.

  • Ninth for Esteban Ocon is the first Q3 appearance for the Haas driver this season.

  • Yuki Tsunoda matches his 2024 qualifying position with the Racing Bulls.

  • Isack Hadjar qualified 11th, the same position he did for his debut in the Australian Grand Prix before spinning out on the formation lap.

  • Lewis Hamilton failed to reach Q3 for the first time as a Ferrari driver despite only being 0.058s slower than team mate Leclerc in Q2.

  • The seven-time World Champion's best results so far in 2025 have come via the Sprints, where he won in China and finished third in Miami.

  • P13 on the grid is Gabriel Bortoleto's career-best qualifying since making his debut at the start of 2025 for Kick Sauber.

  • Jack Doohan outqualified Alpine team mate Pierre Gasly for the first time.

  • A P15 starting position for Liam Lawson is one place higher than his season average of 16.0.

Hamilton failed to make it through to Q3 for the first time this season

  • For Kick Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg, it will be the third time in the last four races that the German will have started 16th on the grid.

  • Prior to being eliminated in Q1 in Miami, Fernando Alonso was the only driver to reach Q2 this year without reaching Q3 at any point.

  • As well as being outqualified by Doohan for the first time, it also marks the first time in Miami that Gasly has been beaten by a team mate.

  • Lance Stroll endured his fourth consecutive Q1 elimination this season but despite this, is still the only Aston Martin driver to score points in 2025.

  • His P5 finish in the Sprint is the first time the team has scored points in a Sprint since Qatar 2023.

  • Oliver Bearman holds the unenviable record of being slowest in both SQ1 and Q1 for Haas this weekend.
