F3 in-season testing has taken place at the brand-new Madring in Madrid, which will play host to the Spanish Grand Prix when F1 returns to the city in September.
All 30 F3 drivers had the opportunity to experience the venue over two days, helping them to both prepare for the remaining rounds and put the Madring through its paces ahead of its official debut on the weekend of September 11-13.
The track’s combination of permanent sections and public roads, as well as the exhilarating banked turn named ‘La Monumental’, will make it a unique challenge when F1 heads there for the 14th round of the 2026 season, joined by support championships F2 and F3.
Home hero Carlos Sainz enjoyed a lap of the Madring back in May, but Ferrari recently completed a filming day there to claim the honour of posting the first times in an F1 car.
Audi junior driver Freddie Slater, who currently has an eight-point lead in the F3 standings with two rounds to go, gave his verdict on the Madring: “I think this track is incredible to drive, it's a bit old-school, got some interesting corners and it's got a lot of character to it. It's probably one of the most enjoyable on a push lap on the calendar.
"I've had a couple of experiences around street tracks, Macau, Monaco this year, and it's about going out, being on the limit.
“I love the whole thing. I think it's incredible. I think it's one of the best tracks I’ve driven. Like all the best tracks, like your Macaus, your Monacos, the tracks that have got character, I think that's the most special thing that they've done here.
“I can't name a favourite part, but I do like the Turn 5 and 6 chicane. I'm just enjoying it, having fun.”
