Mercedes enjoyed another 1-2 finish in the Chinese Grand Prix, just as they did in Australia, with Kimi Antonelli leading George Russell to score his maiden F1 victory.
As the Silver Arrows celebrated, Ferrari were again left contemplating a third and fourth in the race despite having engaged the Mercedes cars in battle for an extended period.
It took until Lap 29 – over half the Grand Prix distance – for Russell to be properly established in second place ahead of the Ferraris. Yet, just 14 laps later, Hamilton in the lead Ferrari was over 20 seconds adrift of Antonelli and 13 seconds behind Russell, with Leclerc gradually falling even further back.
