After an aborted start, George Russell superbly snatched the lead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix from pole sitter Lando Norris, with the damp track failing to dissuade anyone from battling for position.
On the eventual race start, which got underway after Lance Stroll spun out on the original formation lap, Russell got the better launch off the front row and won the race into the first corner against the McLaren driver as Yuki Tsunoda successfully clung onto third position after going three-wide with Esteban Ocon and Liam Lawson.

Further back, it was a nightmare start for the out of position Red Bull of Sergio Perez, who dropped from P12 to last place after spinning off the track and onto the grass.
With Norris running in P2, the championship challenger also faces an investigation for a starting procedure investigation, having moved off for a second formation lap despite the aborted start message being shown.
