Red Bull announce launch date for Verstappen and Perez’s new RB16B

Red Bull have become the latest team to announce the launch date for their 2021 car, with the RB16B set to be unveiled on February 23 by the Milton Keynes team.

The car will be piloted by the team’s revamped line-up of Max Verstappen and Sakhir Grand Prix winner Sergio Perez, drafted into the team from outside the Red Bull driver programme to replace Alex Albon for 2021, as Red Bull look to go after their first drivers’ and constructors’ championships since 2013.

The RB16B will build on the foundations of the RB16, which Verstappen used to claim two victories last season, and in which the two Red Bull drivers took a further 11 podiums, while still finishing a massive 254 points behind Mercedes.

The car will also feature a new Honda power unit for 2021, the final year of the Japanese engine supplier’s active presence in F1, before Red Bull take over the running of the engines from 2022 onwards.

Red Bull’s announcement, meanwhile, comes on the same day that sister team AlphaTauri launched their new 2021 car, the AT02, set to be piloted by Pierre Gasly and F1 newbie Yuki Tsunoda this season.
