Daniel Ricciardo has been put to the back of the grid for this afternoon’s Hungarian Grand Prix after his Renault team opted to replace the power unit on the Australian’s car.

The decision follows a disappointing qualifying session for Ricciardo at the Hungaroring, in which he failed to get a final run in during Q1 after hitting traffic, dropping out in the first phase to finish 17th.

His car will now have a new Internal Combustion Engine, turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, Energy Store and Control Electronics for the 70-lap Budapest race.

The only other man carrying a grid penalty is Alfa Romeo’s Antonio Giovinazzi, who will start 17th after being dropped three places for impeding Racing Point’s Lance Stroll during qualifying.
