ROAD TO F1: Ghiotto nurses tyres to win Hungary F2 Sprint Race by just 0.4s

Luca Ghiotto had to use all of his experience to take his first Formula 2 win of 2020 in Sunday’s Sprint Race, with strategy once again dominating the day in Hungary, as the field struggled with tyre degradation.
The Sprint race is usually a lights-to-flag dash to the line, but Ghiotto was one of only two drivers not to make a pitstop to change heavily worn Pirellis.

The Italian managed to eke every last drop of grip out of his mediums and clung on to the win ahead of reverse polesitter Callum Ilott, who had pitted from first and failed in his attempts to catch up with the Hitech racer – by just 0.423s at the flag.
Ferrari junior Mick Schumacher’s title bid finally has some traction after a frustrating opening two rounds to the season. The PREMA racer sealed back-to-back podiums with a third-place finish.
His PREMA and Ferrari Driver Academy team mate Robert Shwartzman remains the man to beat in the Championship, having claimed fourth to top the standings with 81 points, 18 ahead of Ilott.
