THE CHAMPION’S INTERVIEW: Max Verstappen opens up on his sensational run to a third title
Fresh from winning his third career championship – and third consecutive championship – in the Qatar Sprint, Max Verstappen took time out from his celebrations to sit down with Formula 1 Correspondent and Presenter Lawrence Barretto to look back on his phenomenal 2023.
Verstappen’s title was wrapped up even before the chequered flag had flown in the Sprint, as team mate Sergio Perez’s crash into the gravel eight laps from the end put the championship beyond doubt.
TREMAYNE: Verstappen can hold his head high in the company of his fellow three-time champion greats
And with Verstappen now having joined an elite club of three-time champions – alongside Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna – the Dutchman reflected on his imperious year, the support and strength he receives from both his Red Bull team and his family, and also what his latest in a growing list of career achievements means to him.
