Formula 1 will enjoy its inaugural Grand Prix weekend at Portugal’s Autodromo Internacional do Algarve – or Portimao, as it’s better known – with the Portuguese Grand Prix returning to the calendar for the first time since 1996.
Portimao may never have held a Grand Prix, but several drivers on the grid have either raced at the venue during their junior careers, or tested F1 machinery here. One of those is Daniel Ricciardo, who back in 2009 clinched the British Formula 3 title at Portimao.
