WATCH: Norris walks away after dramatic Eau Rouge-Raidillon crash in Belgian GP qualifying

Lando Norris walked away from a huge crash in the final segment of qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon.

The McLaren driver was in superb form at Spa-Francorchamps and had topped both Q1 and Q2, before the top ten shoot-out for pole position began. He was one of the first cars out on the track, as rain began falling harder over the circuit, with Aston Martin's Sebastian Vettel calling for the session to be red flagged over the radio.

Just seconds later, Norris lost the car going up the hill after Eau Rouge and hit the barriers hard at Raidillon, with his MCL35M spinning around several times as it skidded back across the track – as you can see in the video above.

It came to a rest facing the wrong way by the side of the circuit, with Vettel – who was behind Norris on the road – pulling up slowly to see if his fellow driver was OK.

He was given a thumbs up by Norris, who shortly afterwards climbed from the car as the Medical Car arrived.

McLaren later reported that Norris "was checked at the trackside medical centre and then sent to a local hospital for a precautionary x-ray of his elbow.

"A further update will be issued in due course," a team statement added.
