WATCH: Re-live last year's Bahrain GP as Leclerc suffers heartbreak under the lights
Share
How times change. Last year's Bahrain Grand Prix saw Ferrari lock out the front row of the grid with Charles Leclerc, in just his second race for the team after his move from Sauber, grabbing his first ever pole position.
After a tricky start that saw him slip behind team mate Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas, he thereafter drove a superb race and was in a commanding lead – and looking set for a hugely impressive maiden win – when disaster struck just nine laps before the end of the race.
His Ferrari developed a power unit issue and he was a sitting duck as Lewis Hamilton and Bottas passed him on track, leaving Leclerc to limp home to third place.

Aside from Leclerc's heartbreak, there was plenty of other action on track, including some great wheel-to-wheel racing between Mercedes team mates Hamilton and Bottas, a bizarre spin for Vettel that saw him lose his front wing, and a quick-fire double retirement for Renault.
