Watch Ricciardo's journey from HRT hopeful to race winner in Aramco Presents: Rise of the Rookie

It seems incredible, but just last month Daniel Ricciardo marked ten years as a Formula 1 driver, having made his Grand Prix debut in July 2011 as a fresh-faced (but still smiling) 22-year-old.

The Australian racer first hit the track in F1 at the British Grand Prix, driving for the Hispania Racing Team, essentially on loan from Red Bull, where he was already part of the young driver programme.

After half a season with the Spanish team, he was brought back into the Red Bull fold to partner Jean-Eric Vergne at Toro Rosso, and after two season there, he got the call to make the step up into the big time with the senior Red Bull team, as a replacement for retiring fellow-Aussie, Mark Webber.

And it was at Red Bull that Ricciardo really hit his stride, outscoring and outshining his four time world champion team mate Sebastian Vettel as he took three wins in his first season at the team, quickly forging a reputation as a master overtaker.

Four more wins followed, before he swapped Red Bull for Renault for two years, before making his most recent jump to McLaren in 2021.
