At the very first Grand Prix of the season, Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen went toe-to-toe out on track, enjoying a thrilling fight for the lead before a power unit issue for the Dutchman forced him out of the race.
That enthralling battle set the tone for the rest of the year so far, as the two rivals have gone wheel-to-wheel at plenty of races since, serving up some brilliantly entertaining and dramatic action for the fans.
Thanks to some reliability issues and strategy missteps from Ferrari – and the odd mistake behind the wheel – Leclerc has slipped back in the championship standings from Verstappen, but out on track there has often been nothing to choose between them as they vie for supremacy.
And now we're at the summer break point of the season, with no racing action until the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps at the end of the month, we decided to pick out some of their best duels.
