In Case You Missed It - off track in Baku

20 Jun 2016

All eyes were on the spectacular Baku City Circuit for Sunday's 2016 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe. However, there was also plenty going on behind the scenes in the build-up to the Azerbaijan race. Here's our social media roundup of just a few of the highlights...

Arriving in style

If your friend had a private jet, wouldn't you? Max Verstappen was only too happy to accept Nico Rosberg's offer of a lift to Baku - as were Daniel Ricciardo, Jenson Button, Felipe Massa, David Coulthard and Esteban Gutierrez.

Dream weaver

Thought weaving was what you do to get heat into your tyres? So did official Baku ambassador Fernando Alonso, until a cultural tour of the city taught him otherwise.

Wind tunnel testing

Sometimes cities get their nicknames for good reason. Thankfully it proved less breezy once the cars took to the track.

I should Coco

How do you overshadow a three-time F1 world champion at a drivers' autograph session? Here's how.

Seeing double

Can you spot the real Nico Rosberg?

Perez meets the King

...of Latin pop, that is. Enrique Iglesias was among the big-name music stars performing in Baku over the Grand Prix weekend.

Still the boss

Dutiful son that he is, Max Verstappen sends (virtual) Father's Day greetings to dad Jos.

Remembering Rubens

Such was Baku's embrace of all things Formula One that even the catering had an F1 theme!

Kurt meets Kimi

NASCAR drivers don't get many weekends off, but Stewart-Haas Racing's Kurt Busch used his to check out boss Gene Haas's F1 team - and to pay a visit to their power unit suppliers Ferrari.

Happy ending

Joining Enrique Iglesias and Chris Brown on Baku's all-star music line-up was multi-Grammy Award winning artist Pharrell Williams.
