Honda making 'steady progress' with F1 ® power unit

07 Feb 2014

Honda say they are making ‘steady progress’ in developing their new Formula One power unit ahead of their return to F1 racing in 2015. The Japanese company’s V6 turbo engine will power the McLaren team from next year.

Honda have already set up a European headquarters for their Formula One operations, in Milton Keynes in the UK, where installation of dyno and assembly facilities will be completed in June.

It follows the establishment last month of a new Honda motorsports base in Japan, with the move to the new location in Sakura City, Tochigi, designed to further strengthen the famed car manufacturer’s F1 development organization.

Honda previously enjoyed huge Formula One success with McLaren, powering the British team to four consecutive championship doubles between 1988 and 1991.
