Alonso says he is 'completely fine' following testing crash

27 Feb 2015

Fernando Alonso says he is 'completely fine' following his crash during pre-season testing in Spain last weekend.

The McLaren driver was released from hospital on February 25, having been kept in for three nights while he recuperated after suffering concussion in the Barcelona accident. And although he was ruled out of the final pre-season test on doctors' advice, he has released a video message to reassure his followers about his physical condition.

"As you can see, I'm completely fine," Alonso said. "I would like to be in the test this week in Barcelona, but the doctors' recommendations are to wait a little bit, a couple of days.

"I will rest this weekend and keep you updated next week with the progress and see you very soon on the track. Thanks for all the support."

McLaren called up Kevin Magnussen to replace Alonso for the final test. The team struggled again on the first day, with Jenson Button managing just seven laps before a hydraulic leak curtailed running, but have fared better on day two, with Button racking up 44 laps before the lunchbreak.
