For Sainz, it means dropping from 13th to 18th place on the Baku grid - with McLaren’s Fernando Alonso, Haas’s Esteban Gutierrez, Sauber’s Felipe Nasr and Manor’s Rio Haryanto and Pascal Wehrlein all moving up a spot as a result.
Magnussen, meanwhile, will have to start from the pit lane.
