Kvyat to start from the pit-lane - the official grid in full
Toro Rosso have given Daniil Kvyat a fresh chassis and gearbox following his rear suspension failure and resulting crash in qualifying at Spielberg. It means he will have to start Sunday’s race from the pit-lane, rather than from his original P18 grid slot.
Five other drivers come into the Grand Prix with grid penalties. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg both have five-place drops for unscheduled gearbox changes, meaning the former goes from fourth to ninth, while the latter loses just four places (thanks to Vettel’s penalty being applied first) from second to sixth.
Meanwhile at the rear of the grid, Renault’s Jolyon Palmer, Manor’s Rio Haryanto and Sauber’s Felipe Nasr were all penalised three places for failing to slow sufficiently under yellow flags during the first phase of qualifying on Saturday.
Thus the grid for the Formula 1 Grosser Preis von Osterreich 2016 reads:
Hamilton, Hulkenberg; Button, Raikkonen; Ricciardo, Rosberg; Bottas, Verstappen; Vettel, Massa; Gutierrez, Wehrlein; Grosjean, Alonso; Sainz, Perez; Magnussen, Ericsson; Palmer, Haryanto; Nasr, Kvyat.
