WATCH: Albon’s spin, Kvyat’s late charge and more – the top 10 best onboards from Imola
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola on Sunday was something of a race of two halves: a steady start, followed by drama aplenty in the closing stages.
Max Verstappen's dramatic, high-speed puncture not only took him out of the race while he was running second, it also triggered a host of other incidents for the rest of the pack.
First of all George Russell crashed while trying to warm up his hard tyres as he followed the Safety Car – which, as Jolyon Palmer explains here, is much easier to do than it looks – and then the rest of the field were faced with the dilemma of whether to pit for new tyres or not.
Daniil Kvyat did, and used his new rubber to great effect with a charging drive up the field in the closing laps, while Alex Albon stayed out, only to spin while he was being swamped by cars with fresher tyres.
