RACE DEBRIEF

Formula 1 is back this weekend as the 2020 season finally gets underway – but F1 fans will have another reason to celebrate next week when the new F1 2020 game from Codemasters is released.

This year's edition is chock-full of brand new features – watch the trailer above to get a full run down of them – including the 'My Team' mode which allows you to build and customise your own F1 squad, split screen racing, F2 integration, the first appearance of the new F1 tracks at Hanoi and Zandvoort, and even new podium celebrations.

And following feedback from both drivers and players, F1 2020 includes several on-track improvements, inclduing ERS which, as in real-life, is activated with a simple button press making the manoeuvre much more natural to execute.

At the request of the F1 community, the game has also introduced a virtual rear-view mirror making it easier to identify opponents and fend off any potential attack from rivals.

There will also be a host of classic F1 cars – most notably a selection of Michael Schumacher's former machinery.

“In a little less than a week, our players will finally be able to experience all the innovations in F1® 2020. This year, we have created new features which cater to every type of race fan,” said Lee Mather, F1® Franchise Game Director at Codemasters.

“From My Team, which gives players a real insight into the world of Formula 1®, to the more casual split-screen, F1® 2020 is the ultimate virtual racing experience to accompany the revised 2020 F1® season.”

F1 2020 will be released on Friday 10 July 2020 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, Windows PC (DVD and via Steam), and Google Stadia.
