WATCH: ‘Thank you for saving my life’ – Emotional Grosjean meets his Bahrain GP crash rescuers
Four days after his horror crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix, a heavily bandaged Romain Grosjean returned to the Bahrain International Circuit for a moving encounter with the marshals and medical team who helped save his life.
Grosjean’s Haas VF-20 speared into the barriers on the opening lap of the race, the car splitting in two as the huge impact saw Grosjean’s survival cell puncture the Armco barrier and erupt in flames.
Marshals and the Medical Car crew were quickly on hand to help Grosjean escape the flaming wreckage, with the Frenchman suffering burns to both his hands that have ruled him out of the Sakhir Grand Prix – his place taken at Haas this weekend by Pietro Fittipaldi – but fortunately nothing more serious than that.
Watch in the video above as Grosjean has an emotional reunion with the people who, in his own words, saved his life at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
