F1 2020 team guide: Can Alfa Romeo take on the midfield this season?
Share
Alfa Romeo enter their third season as a modern F1 constructor in 2020, but retain the same driver line-up of Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi. So can they make progress up the grid this year? Will Buxton evaluates their chances...
Last season, only Haas and Williams finished behind Alfa Romeo, who depended on Kimi Raikkonen to score 43 of their 57 points – with a best finish of fourth in the brilliant Brazilian Grand Prix for the Finn. Will this year see the Hinwil team challenge the likes of AlphaTauri, Renault, and perhaps McLaren at the top end of the midfield?
No doubt it'll be a tough task, given McLaren's 2019 status as 'best of the rest', Renault's works backing and Racing Point's RP20 that looks' to have taken more than a little bit of inspiration from Mercedes' 2019 championship winning W10.
