HIGHLIGHTS: Miss the F1 Sprint? Catch up on all the action from the 24-lap dash at Interlagos
Just hours before the F1 Sprint got under way at Interlagos the news came through from the stewards that Lewis Hamilton had been disqualified from Saturday's qualifying session, dropping him from P1 to dead last for the 24-lap dash later that day.
If his head or his heart dropped at that news it didn't show when the lights went out as he set about clawing his way back up the order – all the while knowing he also has a five-place grid penalty to serve for Sunday's Grand Prix.
But claw his way up he did, picking off car after car in impressive fashion as he climbed up to P5 at the flag.
Up at the front, Hamilton's Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas was also on a mission as he grabbed the lead off the line from P2, getting past Max Verstappen into Turn 1.
And despite being on the soft tyres with Verstappen on mediums, Bottas would keep that lead all the way to the end to seal victory in the Sprint, plus the three points and pole position for tomorrow's Grand Prix to boot.
Hit play on the video above to see Hamilton's overtaking masterclass, and all the rest of the action from the final Sprint event of 2021.
