This Sunday’s Formula 1 Gran Premio de Espana Pirelli 2017 could see more overtaking after the FIA decided to extend the main DRS zone at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The Spanish track features two DRS zones and ahead of Saturday’s final practice session it was announced that the second – along the start-finish straight – would be increased by 100m.
The previous activation point was 157m after the final corner. The zone now begins just 57m following Turn 16, giving drivers a greater chance of passing rivals on the run into Turn 1.
The other DRS zone in Barcelona is between Turns 9 and 10 – click here for a circuit map.
