MUST-SEE: Perez crashes out of first practice in Hungary with heavy impact
Sergio Perez’s weekend in Hungary got off to a difficult start after the Red Bull driver crashed heavily in Friday’s first practice session and gave his mechanics a sizeable repair job.
Having entered the weekend determined to move on from a recent “rough patch” that has kept him out of Q3 for the last five events, a matter of minutes had passed in FP1 when Perez hit more trouble.

After flying through Turn 4, he dipped a wheel onto the grass approaching Turn 5, spun off and slammed into the barriers on the outside of the track, causing significant damage to the front-end of his RB19.
“I clipped the grass, I think,” the Mexican admitted over the radio shortly afterward, with replays confirming his suspicions, adding: “I cannot believe this.”
